Near Space Exploration Group

The pursuit of information from the edge of space

Near Space Exploration Group was born from the idea that if a team of individuals with varied experiences and resources worked together that great things could be accomplished. We all bring to the table ideas and concepts that test and sometime expand our limits of what we as individuals could never do alone.

With this in mind our group was formed.

Our group designs, constructs and launches high attitude balloons that carry experiments using Ham radio, GPS, television and an array of other instruments. All of our team members are Ham radio operators. In fact this is the only method of command and control of our near space craft.  Many hours of research, development, testing (trial and error) and construction goes into each of our projects. Much of the equipment is homemade or highly modified off the self items that were never intended for our use. We make sure each one of our flights are in accord with the FAA regulations. We use comprehensive software to predict flight paths to ensure save landing in unpopulated areas.   

We encourage everyone to participate at some level in each of our launches. This includes but not limited to  launch, telemetry, video, tracking and recovery. Recovery being one of the most important!
